It’s almost here, the most delicious 17 days of the year… latke season.

There’s few holiday traditions as sought after in Saanich as the potato latkes from the Jewish Community Centre at 3636 Shelbourne St.

Latke-mania starts Dec. 5 and runs until Dec. 22. The hot-out-of-the-pan latkes are available Tuesday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., cooked by a team of expert volunteers.

Visitors can eat the latkes at the centre’s Lox, Stock and Bagel deli or do take out. The restaurant is open 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., from Tuesday to Friday every week.

Latkes are $10 for three, and are available by the dozen by pre-ordering over the phone at 250-477-7185. Parties of five or greater are also recommended to call ahead.
