Free workshops in March for Embrace Aging Month

March is Embrace Aging Month and the Eldercare Foundation is encouraging people to come out and take part in any of a series of free workshops.

Here’s a snapshot of some events still to come at the Yakimovich Centre, 1454 Hillside Ave.:

Friday, March 23, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m

Tips for mature travellers: How to stay safe and prepare for a stress-free vacation.

Presenter Sandy Lundmark, a travel agent and former health care social worker, will cover all travel-related processes, including how to buy appropriate insurance and book online.

Saturday, March 26, 10 to 11:30 a.m

Getting your affairs in order

This session with Dustin Marnell, a member of the Canadian Bar Association since 2008, explores wills and estates, representation agreements, power of attorney, incapacity planning and acting as an executor.

Thursday, March 29, 10 a.m to noon

Learn to maximize your retirement income

Chris Gerow, a senior advisor in the financial planning industry, will teach participants how to maximize income through Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Old Age Security (OAS), investments, pensions and more.
