Deck the halls! Upcoming West Shore holiday events

West Shore communities get into the holiday spirit

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the West Shore as municipalities gear up for their annual holiday events. Here’s a look at upcoming Christmas celebrations in the area:

Langford

12th Annual City of Langford Christmas Light Up Celebration

Sat. Dec. 1 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Veteran’s Memorial Park

Community members can shop at the Goldstream Station Christmas Market, enjoy treats, meet Santa and count down as the tree lights up. At 8 p.m., the Island Equipment Owners Truck Light Convoy and Food Drive will also pass by the park. Community members are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation.

Colwood

Colwood Christmas Light Up Celebration

Thurs. Dec. 6 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Colwood City Hall

Residents can make their way to Colwood City Hall for free treats from Colwood businesses, a kids craft table and performances from local school choirs. Santa will also be arriving on a fire truck. Donations can be brought for the Christmas Backpack Project and the Goldstream Food Bank.

View Royal

Santa Drive Around

Sat. Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Starting at the View Royal Fire Hall

Members of the View Royal Fire Department will be driving around the community with Santa. They will also be accepting donations for the Goldstream Food Bank.

The Island Equipment Owners Truck Light Convoy will also be making its way through View Royal on Sat. Dec. 1 around 7:30 p.m. Residents can head to Watkiss Way and Helmcken Road to see the convoy. The View Royal Fire Department will be collecting food donations across from the Helmcken Market.

Highlands

Highlands Fire Department Santa Run

Sat. Dec. 8 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.

Starting at East Fire Hall and ending at Bear Mountarin Parkway - Rivers Crossing

Volunteers from the Highlands Fire Department will be driving Santa around on a fire truck to meet community members. Treats will be made available and the department will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Goldstream Food Bank.

Metchosin

Annual Breakfast with Santa

Sat. Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Metchosin Fire Hall

Community members can head down to the fire hall to meet Santa and enjoy some pancakes, sausage, hot beverages and crafts for the kids. Donations for the Goldstream Food Bank will be accepted.
