West Shore RCMP Const. Sarah Beckett continues to help the community she died serving.

Registration is now open for the Sarah Beckett Memorial Run, taking place May 13 at Starlight Stadium in Langford.

In memory of Beckett, who was killed in the line of duty on April 5, 2016, this five-kilometre family-friendly walk and run raises money for local non-profit organizations serving the West Shore. A virtual event is also available for anyone unable to attend in person.

The annual event has been running since 2019 with proceeds this year going to the BGC South Vancouver Island (formerly the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Victoria) and the Goldstream Food Bank. More than 900 participants took part in that first run, raising $20,000 for the Const. Sarah Beckett Memorial Scholarship. In 2021, a virtual event saw 700 participants raise $17,500 for BGC South Vancouver Island with $2,500 going to the Goldstream Food Bank.
