It’s time to bundle up and enjoy the bedazzled floats and cars that welcome Santa Claus to Esquimalt.

On Dec. 2, the 13th annual Esquimalt Celebration of Lights will feature dozens of illuminated cars and floats, as well as live music, hot chocolate, coffee, hot dogs and snacks.

The parade will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Canteen Road before heading along Esquimalt Road to the arena where more family fun will continue.

This year’s featured singer is Maureen Washington, a jazz and blues singer who will perform original and traditional Christmas music with her band.

Esquimalt residents should plan for traffic changes between 4:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., when Esquimalt Road will be closed, and only local traffic will be permitted south-bound on Admirals Road at the Admirals and Colville intersection. Routes will be detoured around the Esquimalt Recreation Centre and the Esquimalt Shopping Plaza during this time.
