View Royal elementary students and parent volunteers were busy Saturday collecting cans and bottles around the community as part of a fundraiser for the school’s Parent Advisory Council.

The bottle drive was one of four the PAC has organized this school year, with proceeds going toward the purchase of new playground equipment for the school on Helmcken Road.

According to vice-principal Sarah Winkler, the objective is to see the new equipment installed sometime this summer to be ready in time for the next school year.
