Doug Kobayashi adds another post to his resume

Kobayashi joins the Board of Governors

Royal Roads University recently appointed Doug Kobayashi to its board of governors.

Kobayashi is an experienced aerospace engineer, military veteran and management consultant.

He has held senior and executive positions within business, aerospace engineering and management consulting sectors, as well as 20 years of service in the Canadian military. He is the recipient of the Canadian Merit Award, Canadian Decoration and the Canada 125 medal.

Kobayashi currently leads Think Strategy, a management consulting firm, and was previously an aerospace engineer for the Royal Canadian Air Force, working in the aerospace industry for nearly 30 years.

Kathleen Birney, Royal Roads chancellor and chair of the board of governors, said she is happy to have Kobayashi join the team.

“Doug’s diversity of experience in military and in industry will be a wonderful asset as we continue to further our commitment of being a financially sustainable, high-performance organization,” she said in a statement.

Kobayashi is also a director of the Victoria Conservatory of Music and a member of the board for Green Transit Partners.

He has volunteered as acting chair of the advisory council to RRU’s school of business and has served as the president of the West Shore Chamber of Commerce and the WestShore Rebels Football Club.

Allan Cahoon, Royal Roads president and vice-chancellor, pointed to Kobayashi’s commitment to the university and the community that is a good fit for the board.

“His experience, expertise and enthusiasm will be a valuable addition to the board and its governance,” Cahoon said in a statement.
