Just days prior to the start of training camp, the Victoria Shamrocks have announced several key signings that they hope will propel them back into the Mann Cup.

“These six guys add so much quality to our overall depth,” said Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch in a statement. “This is a group of men who work hard during the day and then come to the rink and battle hard each and every time they go out on the floor. If you want to win you need guys like this on your team.”

Veterans Matt Yager, Ben McCullough, Cody Hagedorn, Ethan Garland and Paul Brebber will all return to the fold, with each bringing a different dynamic to the ‘Rocks.

Yager is the most experienced of the bunch, having played eight seasons with the club. The reliable defender will be an alternate captain once again this season.

McCullough will enter his sixth season with the Shamrocks, having moved west from his hometown in Brampton, Ont. He remains a key part of the team’s defensive core.

Goaltender Hagedorn and defender Garland are entering their fourth seasons with the team after being taken by Victoria in the 2014 WLA Draft and Brebber will enter his second season with Victoria after coming over in a trade with the Nanaimo Timbermen.

Jackson played minor, intermediate and junior lacrosse in Victoria before moving over to the Lower Mainland and racking up 184 points in 65 games with the Burnaby Lakers from 2012-2015.

He was traded to Nanaimo last year but did not report and was dealt to the Shamrocks earlier this year.

The Shamrocks open training camp on May 1.

Their first home game is May 19 against the Langley Thunder.
