It's a right of passage for teenage rugby boys, a game that means much more than a few points in the standings.

The annual Gareth Rees Boot Game is the biggest senior boys rugby derby in town, between St. Michaels University School and the Oak Bay Barbarians.

This year the game moves to St. Mikes after being played at the neutral UVic site for many years.

Rees played for St. Mikes in the 1980s and went on to become Canada's greatest fly half, and holds the Canadian record for test points with 487. Many of the points came off his boots, of which a pair was bronzed and is played for each year between St. Mikes and the Barbs.

Kickoff for the seniors is 5 p.m. The junior squads go right before at 3:45 p.m.
