Mike Haslam, Spencer Carlson, Ryan Patterson, and Brad Scafe were crowned champions in their respective divisions this past weekend, as Western Speedway played host to Championship Night for the WILROC Non Winged Sprint Cars, Stock Cars, Mini Stocks, OTRA, and Dwarf Cars.

The featured main event of the evening was for the WILROC Non Winged Sprint Cars, with Jeff Bird and Tim Openshaw leading the starting field of 15 cars to the green flag.

Bird led the opening 17 laps before the red flag came out for an incident involving Dave Morrison and Shane Woolcock.

Both drivers climbed out of their cars under their own power, with Morrison later transported to Victoria General Hospital for observation.

When the race restarted, Bird lost the lead to Mike Haslam, who shot to the inside of both second place James Miller and first place Bird to take the lead.

Haslam had Miller locked on his rear bumper for the last half of the race, managing to hold off the hard charging sophomore by half a car length for the win.

With the main event win, Halsam capped off a championship winning season with his second main event win of the year and first at Western Speedway since 2014.
