Western Speedway played host to the Triangle RV Centre Team Demo Challenge this past Saturday night, with Team Hansen going up against the Hitmen. The night also featured the LORDCO Auto Parts Demo Series, Bombers, Mini Figure 8s, and the Loan Ranger Financial Claimers.

Heading into the evening’s Bomber main event, Cam Stanfield looked to be the man to beat, with the driver of the 73 car leading the division points standings heading into the evening. Stanfield lined up fourth for the main event, with Brian Wakelin and Ron Benham leading the field to the green.

Wakelin led early on, with Stanfield moving into second. Wakelin’s pink number 39 led all the way until lap twenty-one, when Campbell River’s Mike Dionne passed him on the outside line and drove away for his first win of the season. Stanfield dropped out before the finish with overheating issues.

Brian Wakelin, Jarrod Soberg, Rich Gerhardt and Sean Whitley rounded out the top five positions for the thirty lap main event.

The next race at Western Speedway is this weekend (June 9 and 10) for the West Coast Tire and Wheel Strawberry Cup, featuring the Wayne’s Trucking Winged Super Sprints, WILROC Non Winged Sprint Cars, and the West Coast Vintage Racers Vintage Sprint Cars and Supermodifieds.
