People already drive stoned, legalizing marijuana won’t change that

Langford resident doesn’t believe there will be an increase in the number of people that drive stoned

Re: Legal pot poses legal questions (editorial, May 29)

The media, politicians and the police must have led very sheltered lives.

Their overriding concern with the legalization of marijuana is a dramatic increase in the number of people driving stoned. Let me assure you that this will not happen. You can sleep peacefully, without the fear that hordes of stoned zombies are suddenly going to be driving amok on your streets.

I am somewhat embarrassed to have to be the one to tell the bubble wrapped generation that people have been driving stoned on pot for at least 50 years. Yes, it’s true. I apologize to my fellow Boomers for outing you, but it had to be said. These people needed to be told that the whole reason for legalizing marijuana was because – please sit down before reading on – everyone was already using it. Nothing is going to change.
