Kimberly remembered as a best friend

Re: Life in prison for teen killers, News, April 6, 2011.

Kimberly Proctor was an amazing person. When I started Grade 9, I went to Pacific secondary school, but since they do not usually teach Grade 9 at Pacific, I did not have many friends.

In 2009, Kim started at Pacific secondary and I saw her sitting in the lobby.

I sat down and we started talking. We talked for awhile about how our lives had been going since we went to different schools. From then on Kim and I were best friends.

We talked everyday on the phone and hung out together almost everyday. When we couldn’t talk on the phone anymore, we would go straight to the computer and talk until late hours.

Kim is my best friend, and she was the person that I knew who would keep my secrets. She was the person who I could trust when I needed a shoulder to cry on. If there was ever someone in need, Kim would try and help them.

My whole life has changed since Kim was murdered. I can’t talk to her anymore or spend time with her, but I know she’s always here by my side. Nothing will ever change what happened, but I do know that I love her and she will forever be my best friend.

I am happy about the sentence that those boys got for what they did to her, even though it won’t bring her back. I know that she got the justice that she deserved.

Playing with her rabbit or with her dog made her so happy. Kimberly always had a smile to share. All we can hope for in the future is that it will only get better, if we believe it will.
