$40 student payment admission of failure

Strike time payout idea another sign of Liberals' arrogance

While there is widespread outrage at the government’s plan to pay parents $40 per school day for each child under the age of 13, when it is thought out in a rational fashion, it is nothing more than a refund for failure of the Liberals to provide the very important service of educating our youth.

In fact, if a group of 30 students were put into a room and provided with a private sector tutor at $40 a day per child (totalling $1,200 per day) what would it be called? A private school, of course.

It is not often that a government will admit to being a failure, usually trying desperately to blame others for their incompetence. But giving a refund is a sure sign of admitting failure. Sure, the teachers are on strike, but what has the government been doing other than sitting on their hands waiting for some miracle to occur?

And where is Honourable MLA Stephanie Cadieux in all of this when all she needs is $4 million to prevent the shutdown of the Victoria Youth Custody Centre? Reversing that decision would bring some semblance of compassion for our wayward youth who happen to be held in custody.

Too many elected officials remain silent and seemingly equally useless at governing as they were elected to do. Our youth have suffered long enough under the current Liberal government.

The arrogance of a party too long in power seems quite apparent in so many current government initiatives. It is truly time for change and I expect and hope that the prediction of a landslide NDP victory in the last election will in fact happen in the next provincial election.

Enough of a useless and harmful government.
