Leon (Red) Thibodeau

The death of Leon (Red) Anthony Thibodeau, husband of Bernadette Bosmans, occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2014 in Seraing, Belgium at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the son of Leo Anthony Thibodeau and the late Florence Anna (McLean) Thibodeau.

Besides his wife (Bernadette) he is survived by his father Leo (Miramichi Senior Citizens Home Veterans Wing), one brother Van Walsh of Douglasfield, three sisters, Marlyn Krygsveld (David) of Miramichi, Mary Ellen Thibodeau and Karen Gilson, both of Edmonton, Alberta, as well as several neices and nephews.

He spent 6 years in the military (IRCHA) artillery, stationed in Lahr, Germany and Gagetown.

He spent several years working with the John Howard Society as well as with the RCMP Auxiliary in Victoria, B.C.

He was awarded the “Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal” which was given in recognition of persons who have made a significant contribution to Canada, to their community or to their fellow Canadians.

The Royal Canadian Legion awarded a “Minister of Veteran Affairs Commendation” for his work as past president of Royal Canadian Legion Branches 35 and 65 and for his work as President of the BC-Yukon Command.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Cancer Society or the memorial of one’s choice would be appreciated.
