Station House Pub targetted by credit card scammers

53 victims uncovered so far, West Shore RCMP asking pub-goers to double-check credit card statements

A credit card scam at the Station Street Pub in Langford has resulted in at least 53 compromised cards, say RCMP.

Police became aware of the scam after a victim called them. She noticed on her credit card statement that her card had been used in Ohio, even though she still had the card. Two of her friends also had their credit cards used in other locations.

Police are still looking into how the scam has been carried out, but believe at this point that it may have been done over the Internet.

The pub has been fully co-operating and RCMP say they don't believe any of its employees were involved.

"It can happen anywhere," said RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Max Fossum. "We've seen it at banks, at every type of store, coffee shops – even RCMP officers are victims of it."

RCMP say that anyone who has used a credit card at the pub in the past couple of months should check their credit card statements, and if anything is amiss call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
