The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, as well as investigators and general duty members from the West Shore RCMP are continuing their investigation into the suspicious death of a man whose body was found on a remote property in Metchosin.

Roughly nine unmarked vehicles were parked along the quiet road Thursday afternoon as investigators walked back and forth from a site at 1005 Malloch Rd., which was not visible from the roadway. Investigators in white suits and police officers were seen carrying evidence bags from their vehicles to the site.

The police would not disclose what condition the body is in.

A resident from the area said the property does not have a house or permanent structure but did at one time have a motor home parked there. She noted it’s an unusual property that has been mostly used to store junk. She added there may be a dirt course set up for ATVs or dirt bikes.

A pile of metal fencing, an old barbecue and a pink doll house were some of the items visible from just behind the yellow police tape strung across the driveway.

West Shore RCMP officers were led to the scene where they discovered the body shortly after noon on Wednesday. Although the investigation is in its early stages, foul play is suspected and police are not sharing any further information at this time.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or online at victoriacrimestoppers.ca.
