Victoria police are urging parents to speak with their children after receiving a series of reports involving a male exposing himself to children around Macaulay Elementary School.
Police are still investigating after receiving two reports on May 26. In the first incident, a man exposed himself to children in the 900 block of Wollaston Street at approximately 3 p.m. Shortly after, a man exposed himself to a child walking to the bus stop at the corner of Wollaston and Macaulay streets.
In both incidents the suspect approached children with a shirt or sweatshirt over his pants. He then lifted his shirt, showing his genitals.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, aged 25 to 30 years old with a medium build. He stands at approximately 5’7” to 5’9” tall and has short dirty blonde or brown hair, parted to one side and gelled. The suspect was wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and sunglasses.
“There was no physical contact with the children in these incidents, but we are treating them as a priority,” said acting Esquimalt division Insp. Jason Laidman.
Messages to share with children are:
1. If someone does something that makes you feel confused, uncomfortable or sad, shout no and tell a teacher, parent or police officer right away.
2. There is safety in numbers. Bring a buddy with you when you go places.
3. If someone asks you to go somewhere with them and you parents don’t know, shout no and go tell a teacher, parent or police officer right away.
