Derby feeds Goldstream Food Bank

Smoked fish makes its way into holilday hampers thanks to derby

The Bite-Me Fishing Derby donated 150 pounds of smoked salmon to the West Shore Christmas Hamper Fund.

“The three biggest fish become property of the derby and this is a great opportunity to give back to the community and for families to get a nice treat,” said Metchosin fire Chief Stephanie Dunlop. The derby is hosted by the Metchosin fire department.

The fish came from the top three in the August derby. The fish was divided into 41 packages to be added to hampers for individuals and families across the West Shore.
