Crash backs up Island Highway

Two people in the minivan taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Island Highway in View Royal was backed up on Wednesday during the late afternoon rush hour after a minivan ran into the back of a dump truck at the 400 block.

Two people in the minivan were taken to hospital with minor injuries, said View Royal fire chief Paul Hurst.

The crash happened at about 4:15 p.m., with the vehicles heading northbound, towards Colwood, at the time. Police, the fire department and ambulance crews attended the crash.

Hurst said that the "dump truck won" and that the van had significant damage. The cause of the crash is still unknown.

"You know what the traffic's like out there, it's just horrendous."
