Backyard birds on the table

To help residents learn more about the process and hear their opinions Colwood is hosting an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 16.

The City of Colwood is inviting the public to weigh in on regulations concerning backyard chickens.

The city is reviewing its bylaws for keeping chickens and some other poultry in backyards. Currently the practice is not allowed on residential lots under a certain size, but, much like other municipalities in the area including Langford, Colwood is considering reducing those regulations.

To help residents learn more about the process and hear their opinions the city is hosting an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at city hall (3300 Wishart Road).
