Woman attacked in broad daylight
Police are seeking the public’s assistance regarding a vicious and unprovoked attack that occurred Sunday morning.
At around 9 a.m. on Aug. 17, a Langford woman was cycling at the intersection of Jacklin and Jenkins roads when police say someone attempted to steal her backpack from behind, hit her in the back of the head and pulled her off her bike. The culprit stole her white Reebok mountain bike. The victim suffered injuries to her face and leg as a result of the attack, and was transported to hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police say there have been no recent similar attacks.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen the incident, or who may be able to assist in identifying the suspect or suspects to come forward.
“Jacklin road at 9 a.m. is a well-travelled road, so we’re really hoping someone saw something,” said Cpl. Kathy Rochlitz of the West Shore RCMP. “We’re looking for anybody that can help us understand what exactly happened.”
Anyone with information relating to this crime is urged to contact the RCMP at 250-474-2264, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
