Update: Some West Shore and Sooke schools closing early

The Sooke School District is asking parents to pick up their kids as soon as possible from Hans Helgesen school in Metchosin and all schools in Sooke. School buses are not running today in the district.

Snow blanketed the West Shore Tuesday morning, and more is expected over the week. Environment Canada is expecting five centimeters in Victoria tomorrow, likely more for the West Shore.

More than 1,200 households in Metchosin are without power due to snowfall Tuesday morning. The Metchosin Community House is open for any residents without power.
