Don’t forget about Westshore Town Centre when planning your Canada Day celebrations.

On Saturday, Metchosin resident Jesse Roper will be stepping away from his electric brand of rock and blues for an acoustic set as part of the shopping centre’s MY CANADA 150 and Fabulous! celebrations.

The popular musician will hit the stage at 11 a.m. for a special one-hour performance sponsored by the Gazette and after a short break will return for a meet and greet after the show.

“He’s a big, local talent,” said Carlene McDonald, Westshore Town Centre marketing manager, adding he’s creating quite a buzz on their social media accounts. “We’re really excited, it looks like it’ll be a busy weekend.”

Other activities at the centre include a long weekend sale, cake and Starbucks coffee, a bouncy castle, glitter tattoos and balloon twisters for the kids.

Donations will be collected on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross. Those that drop in a coin – or several – can spin the wheel for a chance to win one of 150 prizes.

“We’re encouraging people to come here before they head off for the rest of their long weekend plans,” McDonald noted, adding it’s a great spot to kick off weekend celebrations with the entire family.

Customers can also enter the MY CANADA 150 and Fabulous! contest for a chance to win $10,000 in Air Canada gift cards towards a Canadian adventure for two. The contest will close July 15, with the winner chosen in a random draw on July 17. You can also enter to win the second-place prize of a 3-peice outdoor patio set and accessories worth $2,000.
