If you’re looking for a family event that celebrates community, then the Highlands has something on the agenda you won’t want to miss.

The Highlands District Community Association, in conjunction with volunteers from the Highlands fire service and with funding from the District of Highlands, will be hosting the Highlands Family Fling at Caleb Pike Heritage Park this Saturday.

The Fling will begin at noon following the official re-opening of Twinflower Park.

Activities will include the Highlands Market, dunk tank, yoga, bocce ball, ping-pong, and Flingo (a new game of catch).

Activities for kids will include a bouncy castle, games, face painting, and a firefighter obstacle course.

Live music will feature Cookeilidh and BlackTrack with Cookeillidh taking the stage from 12:15 to 1 p.m. and BlackTrack playing for an hour at 1:30 p.m. and again at 3:45.

Hot dogs, ice cream treats, watermelon, corn on the cob, iced tea, and water will be available.

The event takes place until 5 p.m. at Caleb Pike Heritage Park, 1589 Millstream Rd.
