WHAT’s UP: Rugby Sevens and other events highlight West Shore weekend

Here’s some events taking place this weekend that you won’t want to miss

More sunshine is in the forecast this weekend and there’s plenty to do around the West Shore.

Friday, May 26

The Victoria Shamrocks are back in action against the Burnaby Lakers in a rematch from last year’s playoffs. The ‘Rocks took their opener last week in a nailbiter. Opening faceoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at The Q Centre.

Saturday, May 27

Metchosin’s ‘Mighty’ garage sale opens at 9 a.m. and shoppers are encouraged to get there early in order to have a shot at the best stuff. Proceeds support the Metchosin Community Association and the sale continues on Sunday.

Meanwhile, sports fans will descend upon Westhills Stadium for the HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens tournament, featuring Canada, New Zealand, Australia and a host of other countries. Medal round matches will take place on Sunday.

Sunday May 28

Residents are encouraged to stop by the South Vancouver Island Rangers clubhouse on Luxton Road between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for free hamburgers and hot dogs courtesy of the Rangers. Games for kids of all ages.
