Sailing club marks opening day with parade in Esquimalt Harbour

Canadian Forces group opens boating season this Sunday

Esquimalt Harbour will offer a picturesque sight to passersby on Sunday (April 29), when about 40 boats with the Canadian Forces Sailing Association take to the water for a sailpast.

Racing and cruising vessels will be on parade beginning at 2:45 p.m. to mark the association's opening day. Vessels with the Victoria branch of the Disabled Sailing Association of B.C. will also participate.

The organization has 350 members, including past and present military personnel, their families and some civilians. The club also offers a sail training program for children and youth every summer.
