Westshore Music Academy owners Sabine and Andreas David get ready for their musical swap meet this Sunday

Musical swap meet aims to get people playing

Music academy facilitating sales for community

Westshore Music Academy is hosting its first musical instrument swap meet this Sunday (Sept. 14).

“It can save you a lot of money to get a used instrument instead of a brand new one,” said co-owner Sabine David, who business is looking to promote music in the community.

The space at 134-1039 Langford Pkwy. has a large warehouse-like area on the ground floor to accommodate sellers and the academy will provide tables. The event is free to attend and free for sellers to bring their gently used music or studio equipment, but sellers are asked to register by email beforehand.

“There’s been quite a lot of interest already,” David said, adding the selection of musical instruments will be quite varied. “Guitars, amps, trumpets, percussion instruments, drum sets, keyboards – all kinds of different instruments.”

Sellers are welcome to bring anything music related, including audio or studio equipment as well.

The swap meet goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. To register as a seller, email westshoremusicacademy@shaw.ca, or for more information, call 250-532-0228.
