The Royal Canadian Legion’s Langford branch will host a leg of a national flag tour that is celebrating the opening of the 2017 Invictus Games.

The public is encouraged to attend the Legion’s Station Avenue branch on Aug. 16 at 4 p.m. for the celebration, which will feature a flag-raising ceremony and a presentation about the games.

Those in attendance will get a chance to sign the Invictus flag, which will later be presented to a competitor at the games, and take a photo with Vimy, the event’s mascot.

This year’s competition will take place in Toronto from Sept. 23 to 30 and will feature more than 550 ill, injured and wounded service men and women from 17 countries competing in 12 adaptive sports.
