City of Colwood praised for 'user-friendly’ trails map

City earns honourable mention at recent UBCM meeting

The City of Colwood earned an honourable mention at the Union of B.C. Municipalities meetings last week in Whistler for its Guide to User-Friendly Trails publication. The guidebook, a pilot project between CRD Parks and West Shore Parks and Recreation, has its roots in discussions of the Intermunicipal Advisory Committee on Disability Issues. It offers maps of easy-to-use walking, hiking and wheeling trails around the West Shore, as well as other parks throughout the Capital Regional District. The guidebook offers details about grades and level of difficulty of sections of trails. It can be viewed online at bit.ly/1rsufPX or picked up at area recreation centres.
