Belmont drive doubles the food for its 10,000 Tonight

The final count at the end of the evening, Dec. 4, was 19,655 items.

Belmont secondary school’s 10,000 Tonight food drive surpassed its name this year.

The final count at the end of the evening, Dec. 4, was 19,655 items. Donations continued to trickle in days after the event bringing the count even closer to 20,000.

“We brought all the food to the food bank and they almost didn’t have room for it all,” said Grade 12 student Hope Robinson, event organizer.

A donated moving truck made two trips the Goldstream Food Bank.

Donations of food and toys can be can be dropped off at the West Shore Christmas Hamper Fund office, 761 Station Ave. Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
